I am starting to get really cross with Neighbours (I know I know it serves me right for watching it but it keeps me company whils I crochet) apart from the storyline going from the ridiculous, to well, the more ridiculous (everyone who gets married dies within weeks, making marriage the most dangerous decision on Ramsey Street) I am starting to get really fed up with watching poor\u00a0India Napier, who seems to suffer nothing short of child abuse at mealtimes.\u00a0 I mean for goodness sake the kid is nearly 2 (\u00a0I know this because she was born the same time as Jojo) and they are still SPOONFEEDING HER! ) and she clearly HATES it.\u00a0It’s painful to watch.<\/p>\n
[PAUSE: Husband has just announced that at the current rate of downloading, we should be able to watch the final of The Apprentice in 2 years and 27 days. I’m not sure I can wait that long.\u00a0Besides someone will definitely blow the whilstle on that one.\u00a0 Very cross as was looking forward].<\/p>\n
I have also just discovered that it is reasonably simple to follow radio 4 via the internet, even for a\u00a0techno-dinosaur like me,\u00a0so happily I can now listen to womans hour whilst I make lunch.\u00a0 Or dinner, even. It was pretty surreal having Jenny Murray’s soothing voice filling our Israeli setup today though. No matter how many olim come here they will never get radio as good as her.<\/p>\n
It’s also been good fun watching British chefs on tv (Jojo is getting really into cookery, I am proud to say, recognising not just raw\u00a0“chicky! chicky!” but even “spicy!” and “garlic”. Fabulous.) and I watched some old dame on You Tube making a christmas pudding the other day that looked rather tempting.\u00a0Only\u00a0I havent found candied peel here yet.<\/p>\n
Incidentally has anyone seen the Ronnie Corbett & Harry Enfield sketch “Help! I’ve lost my blackberry?” It’s an absolute scream. Best comedy sketch I have seen on telly in years. I think we might be watching the 2 Ronnie’s all-nighter. Especially if my Little Ronnie decides he wants to eat all night. Can’t believe Ronnie Corbett is still making people laugh at the age of 80. He’s nearly as old as my dad!<\/p>\n
Meanwhile Jojo has been discovering the wonders of Button Moon and asks for repeats despite the quality being a bit dodgy (in addition to\u00a0the original shakiness!) Brilliantly clever show but I’m not sure a tv programme made entirely from discarded rubbish would slide with today’s kids. Thankfully Jojo hasn’t cottoned onto this yet so we still get to follow Mr Spoon.<\/p>\n
My mummy and\u00a0baby group ran today only sadly,\u00a0almost everyone who attended last week was ill so they couldn’t come.\u00a0Jojo managed to pass on his dreadful tummy bug to 4 other kids and 3 were still recovering. One took it really bad poor thing and had to be hospitalised due to dehydration. I feel awful for them but\u00a0I suppose they would have picked it up somewhere at some point. It seems to be horribly contagious. My observation has been that Israelis are\u00a0a little more diehard than chutzniks it seems and don’t get too nervous about germ exposure. I suppose you need to be a bit tough-love with your kids if you are going to send them out to the army at 18.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
