I have been wondering if\u00a0I might get struck down by the Lord for speaking badly on Israel as my last few posts have been on illness, bugs and national disasters.\u00a0 Indeed we are not allowed to speak badly about\u00a0Israel.\u00a0 The first people to do that in the Bible\u00a0probably wished they didn’t.\u00a0\u00a0However I think it’s important to know the facts before you make aliyah.\u00a0 The number of people who turn up here based on an ideology and do an about turn when they realise it’s actually not so easy to live here is quite high and I think honesty is the best policy here.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Several people have called us up concerned that we may have been affected by the Carmel fires.\u00a0 Can I just point out we live in KARMIEL not the Carmel mountains, and its 35 miles away.\u00a0 The new owners of our house informed us that one really smart person even called up our old house in London and left a message wishing us well.\u00a0 (I bet I know who that was).\u00a0\u00a0Thankfully we have had some rain which should have dealt with the last of it.\u00a0 Sadly aprart from the lives lost israel has also lsot a beautiful kibbutz and a nature reserve, not to mention trees and trees and trees.<\/p>\n
So this evening I was feeling much better so off we went to a local quiz for english speakers.\u00a0I am a complete geek and have always loved these things. \u00a0We were the youngest people by about 30 years so we\u00a0 knew we were dead in the water.\u00a0 Luckily I befriended a lovely elderly lady from south africa and she prevented us from having an embarrasing loss.\u00a0(I was determined NOT to lose to the essex table, that would have been really really <\/em>embarassing.) By the way, has anyone else noticed how Jamie on the Apprentice (the Jewish boy from Essex) speaks Very Slowly and Clearly in an attempt to sound more posh??? It drives me nuts.\u00a0 Reminds me of my old boss.<\/p>\n The questions were totally ageist and we were massively disadvantaged (despite us having, er, resourceful mobile phone skills).\u00a0 Still we made a good stab at it and scored ourselves the booby prize – mini calculators.\u00a0 So now we dont have to buy one for Jojo when he starts school in 4 years (I can just picture the covnersation now “WHADDYA MEAN YOU HAVE TO HAVE A SPECIAL ONE?? THIS WAS ONE WAS FREE!
