\"\"<\/a>This morning was beautiful and we felt bad for Jojo having to do Boring Adult Things so we took him to Park Hamishpacha, a beautiful\u00a0haven just a few minutes (if not heavily pregnant) walk up the hill.\u00a0 The town had a problem with local “undesirables” (translation: Arabs from nearby villages) using the park, and the powers that be wanted to keep the city “high class” so they now\u00a0charge 15 shekel if you are a non-Karmiel resident.\u00a0 They check your teudat zehut as you enter.\u00a0 It’s horribly prejudice, but very effective.\u00a0 We only saw Israelis there.\u00a0 I find it very upsetting that the local Arab villages do not build their own parks – even simple childrens’ play areas.\u00a0 I am sure there is a host of political conclusions and comments one can make here, but as a mother viewing it from the view of other mothers, I honestly don’t know how they manage.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The park, situated next to a beautiful pine forest,\u00a0is a beautifully designed modern oasis with activity sections for all ages, including\u00a0a gymboree sturcture (which is never open, possibly a winter activity),\u00a0 water fountains to amuse children (and save you washing them yourself), mini-golf, a mini-maze and\u00a0the enclosure is\u00a0practically surrounded by mountain views.\u00a0 Somebody put a lot of thought into that place.\u00a0 We plan to be regular visitors and we have been told there are several\u00a0more gorgeous parks to explore\u00a0all over the town.<\/p>\n

I sat there, watching Jojo loving the fountains,\u00a0and\u00a0along with lots of other happy kids\u00a0was thrilled when the water randomly sprouted up for the millionth time, and somewhere someone started to play feel-good israeli music.\u00a0 It was a gorgeous day, the first with a decent mountain breeze as you would expect here, and a grandma\u00a0sitting nearby\u00a0smiled at me.\u00a0 I think\u00a0she felt as blessed\u00a0as\u00a0me to be there.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
