Day 5 – Sperm, Anyone?
It’s Friday and I am exhausted. We have a restful day other than a trip to supersol where we are in pastrami heavan. Never have we seen such a beautiful (and affordable) selection of kosher meat. I am sure the thrill will pass but for now it’s exciting. We find a nice cafe and I practice reading Israeli newspapers. I learned a few fascinating facts. Apparently there is a shortage of sperm donors in the country and women are having to look elsewhere. I suggested my husband go along and donate – (you can get up to 400 shekel for it, I think it’s worthwhile) but he doesn’t take me seriously, even though I could get a really pretty pair of sandals with that money.
I don’t get it – women can be surrogates suffering nausea, varicose veins, pains, heartburn and all the rest for 10 months but they can’t be paid, men do something which, lets face it, takes only a few minutes and is hardly taxing, and they get paid. How can anyone say we have equality??!
The weather seems to have turned, there are rumours of a sharav and it’s already too hot to go anywhere, so we spend the afternoon cleaning and getting ready for Shabbat.
