Toilets in Karmiel; A Rough Guide

Toilets in Karmiel; A Rough Guide

Number of Cockroach Sightings: 3 (1 in kitchen, 1 baby killed by husband and the third husband found on bathroom towel again and squelched it whilst screaming blue murder.  Apparently it was really really big, like 10 inches long.  Hmmm.)

Number of Burekas Consumed: 0 (feeling very smug)

One of the side-effects of pregnancy is popping to the toilet more often, sometimes every time one stands up.  As we have been travelling around town I am now proud to announce that I have been to about 90% of the toilets here, and so far I have been quite impressed.  They say you can tell a lot about a man from his shoes (scuffed and in need of a polish = doesn’t take much personal pride, no longer living with mother, possibly an academic.  Polished and gleaming = woman’s man, charming, likely to be non-committal. You get the general idea….) well I think you can tell a lot about a town from it’s toilets.  Compared to what I have experienced in, say, Tel-Aviv and Jerusalem, this is worth a mention.  I have also been pleased with the relaxed attitude here to my wandering in to use them, although that’s probably because of my giant bump so don’t hold me to that.

Here is a summary using the classic hotel star system, although please note 5 stars does not indicate a swimming pool in this instance:

Toilets in the Iria (town hall) up by the Park Hamishpacha: **** Surprisingly clean, though not glamourous.  Bit dark.

Toilets in Clalit: **** really clean, well attended too.  There is another one especially for mummy’s which I have recently noticed but not yet had a chance to rate.

Toilets at the outdoor swimming pool in the dromit:  * Bit grimy.  Wouldn’t recommend unless fairly desperate.

Toilets in Park Hamishpacha: *** really impressive when you consider it’s a public park.  Fairly clean, no smell and unlike most park toilets, there was actually plenty of bog roll.

Toilets in the Canyon Hachadashah: ** Ok, big dingy, not so clean, but to be expected really.

Toilets in Shipudei Hatikva meat restaurant:  **** Very nice, plenty of room for parent and toddler.

Toilets in the Misrad Haklitah:  **** Very clean when you consider it’s a public building.  Always a woman in there with a broom which is encouraging.

Toilets in Greg Cafe, Big Shopping Area:  ***** Spotless.  Beautiful decor.  Cleaned every half hour as I was reliably informed but a very dodgy bloke there who gave me his number “should I require any cleaning after I have the baby”.   I said I would think about it and he took my arm and asked when I would be calling him.  Good grief.

Toilets inside Big shopping mall: **** not the best decor but clean enough.

Toilet in the Dekel Tivuch (dekel estate agent):  ** Bloody boiling in there.  No air and a sunny window.  Almost died of heatstroke.

Single Toilet round the back of Rabin bakery (not the one near the bus stop, the other one):  *  Needs a clean, dodgy hand towel (could have been unwashed for weeks), bit of a whiff, though not too bad considering it’s a bakery and not a restuarant.  Avoid avoid.

Single Toilet in milky restaurant and “bar” on the midrachov, (I forget name of place): ** Bit cramped.  Not so clean.

Single Toilet at Sushi Place in “The Big”:  ***** Absolutely incredible.  Spotless, white & gleaming, fresh scent and beautiful flowers to admire whilst you relax.

Must go.  Nature calls.

  1. Is this a cut-out-and-keep guide to public loos in Karmiel? You could be onto a winner. Very funny in the meantime. x

  2. Surprised you didn’t visit the toilet in Aroma at the Big. It’s up the stairs and was fairly clean. I’d give it ****, especially when you consider that they have a computer you can use for free. I guess you should order something, though.
